What's That I Hear? Calcium Can Help You Lose Weight?

With so many people in the world today being focused on weight loss, there are new fads and miracle cures popping up everywhere. But one of the best weight loss tools we have has been around all along, but has just been overlooked, until now. I am referring to calcium, something that our bodies need everyday, but can also help us lose weight as well. Sure, we know that we need calcium for strong bones and teeth, but most people have no idea that adding more calcium into their diet everyday could actually help them lose weight, but it definitely can.

Many of the popular diets today have not been designed with nutrition in mind, and while they may help you lose weight, they could also seriously impact your health as well. If you don't get the correct vitamins and nutrients that your body needs everyday, either from the food you eat, or through supplements, then sooner or later your health will decline. If you don't get enough calcium in your diet, you are setting yourself up to develop osteoporosis later in life, which could a major issue, especially if you happen to break a bone or become injured in any way.

We have all focused on losing weight, and many of us grew up thinking that milk, and dairy products in general, would make us fat. But, that may not necessarily be true. While you should limit the amount of calories you take in each day if you want to lose weight, you shouldn't cut out healthy foods that your body needs, such as calcium. Find a way to cut calories, but still provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs, that is the key to successful weight loss.

When you lose weight, you are essentially trying to lessen the amount of fat that you have on your body, which means that you shouldn't obsess or stress over the number on the scale. Instead, look at the inches you lose, and the muscle mass that you gain. Adding calcium back into your diet is a great way to help you get rid of excess body fat, which will boost your self esteem, and make you a much happier person. You will be satisfied with the way you look, and be doing something to boost your health at the same time.

Researchers have actually been able to prove that women who cut out or limit their calcium intake in an effort to lose weight actually weigh more and have more body fat than someone who gets the recommended dosage of calcium everyday. The same was also proven for teenage girls as well. So, rather than opting for that bottle of water or Crystal Light, grab the milk instead, and know that you are doing something that is good for your body, and helping you lose weight as well.

Regardless of the research to the contrary, there are still those sticklers that will swear that extra calcium will make you gain weight, but that simply is not the case. calcium is a great way to lose weight, and prevent obesity in both children and adults. One study shows that getting two extra servings of calcium everyday can actually cut your risk for becoming obese by nearly seventy percent.

So, if you are trying to lose weight, and the information in this article isn't enough to prove to you the importance of calcium in weight loss, do some studies of your own, or better yet, try it for yourself and see what kind of results you get. Chances are, you will be pleasantly surprised!
